Culling of the Dahlias

This is a painting of a mysterious figure harvesting a green dahlia. I did not have anything specific in mind when I chose the Dahlia as the flower being cut, but the symbolism behind it from a quick google search is beauty, commitment, and steadfastness. Depending on how one views it it could be interpreted as the severing of a long relationship. The colors on it came out exactly as I intended and the vibrance ended up being more intense than I could have ever hoped. I think keeping the large swathe of black in the silhouette of the one cutting the flower helped with this.
