Loathing on the Storm

This piece had a few inspirations that led to its creation. The song “Riders on the Storm” was what really got me to begin painting this, but as I started painting the desert scene I started to think of the panning drive away scenes as seen in other pop culture phenomena such as “From Dusk Till Dawn” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”. That’s how I came up with the title of the piece. I used warm colors in the front and cold colors in the back to make more depth. After showing it to my art teacher, he recommended I try increasing the size of the brushstrokes that are closer in the sky which should help with depth. In future paintings I will definitely give this a try.
