Son of atlas

This was a piece inspired by the concept of the greek titan Atlas having a successor. The idea in general is that Atlas’ son would be bound to earth or some other planet via a chain, tasked with carrying it from galaxy to galaxy to keep it from harm. This also has a very slight tangent with Sisyphus in regards to moving heavy objects for an indeterminate amount of time. Overall it ended up a bit darker than I wanted and the depth of the figure and planet left a bit to be desired. I ended up painting it with the same thing I usually use which is Turner Acryl Gouache. The final dimensions of the painting are 24” x 36” and as of writing it is still for sale here. There are also giclee and canvas prints that will be made available for sale.
